Kareena Kapoor cracks joke on ex-flame Shahid Kapoor

Former lovers Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor are starring together in upcoming film ‘Udta Punjab’, nine years after their infamous split in 2007. The ex-couple had shared awesome chemistry in their last movie ‘Jab We Met’, but they won’t be sharing screen-space in the Abhishek Chaubey directorial.

Last month, Shahid and Kareena shared the stage for the trailer launch of the film and they were visibly awkward being in close proximity. Now, there is a new scoop from the film’s promotional event where Kareena pulled the leg of her ex-beau.

According to a report in a leading daily, at the event, a super excited Shahid was encouraging his co-stars to promote the film with full gusto. He had said, “go all-out and fly high doing various stuff to promote the film”.

To this, Kareena, apparently, made a witty comment retorting "Oh you are one to talk Shahid! You don't drink or smoke so how can you fly high?"

Notably, Shahid is a teetotaller and non-smoker in real life. He, reportedly, used to guzzle a lot of coffee before the shots to get the desired high for the role of drug-addict rock star Tommy Singh, in ‘Udta Punjab’.

Shahid and Kareena were in a serious relationship for three years before breaking up in 2007. Since then, the duo has always kept away from each other’s paths and maintained distance. The two have moved on in their lives. While Kareena is happily married to Saif Ali Khan, Shahid, on the other hand, is moving towards parenthood with wife Mira Rajput whom he married in July 2015.

Meanwhile, 'Udta Punjab' has been 'grounded' by the censor board due to excessive abusive language. The filmmakers have the option of appealing to the Film Certificate Appellate Tribunal (FCAT), or will have “to contend with a few cuts” for its release.

Also starring Alia Bhatt and Diljit Dosanjah, the movie is co-produced by Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Motion Pictures and Anurag Kashyap's Phantom Films, and is slated to release on June 17.
