‘Kapoor & Sons’ crosses Rs 100 cr mark

Alia Bhatt, Siddharth Malhotra and Fawad Khan starrer modern age family drama continued its good run at the box office and has grossed over Rs 120 crore from the worldwide box office by its second weekend.


Karan Johar, the producer of the film took to Twitter and posted, ““writing Thank you for the BIG love!!! #kapoor100 #KapoorAndSons ….” Alia and Siddharth also took to their respective Twitter handles to thank their fans.


“THANK YOU for the love!!! Grateful @shakunbatra @karanjohar @chintskap @AyeshaDeVitre @S1dharthM @_fawadakhan,” the ‘Highway’ actress wrote while Siddharth posted, “Thank you for making this happen ! #KapoorAndSons @shakunbatra @_fawadakhan_ @aliaa08 @karanjohar.”


The three of them also added a picture of the film’s poster with the inscription, “Crossed 100 cr GBO, worldwide…”


The family drama minted Rs 59.02 crore from the domestic box office and Rs 35.65 crore from the overseas box office, which is the highest of 2016, until now. The movie which earned a total of Rs 46.93 crore, minted another Rs 12.09 crore in its second weekend, taking the total domestic collections to Rs 59.02 crore.


Noted trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted the second weekend figures on the micro-blogging site: "#KapoorAndSons [Week 2] Fri 4.21 cr, Sat 4.24 cr, Sun 3.64 cr. Total: ? 59.02 cr. India biz. Should touch ? 75 cr, as per current trends.”


He also tweeted about the Shakun Batra film performing well despite competition from other releases and the cricketing season. “#KapoorAndSons remained STRONG, despite new films + crucial cricket match on Sun. Collected ? 12.09 cr in Weekend 2. Total: ? 59.02 cr."


"#KapoorAndSons is faring EXCEPTIONALLY WELL Overseas. Total after Weekend 2: $ 5.35 million [? 35.65 cr]. #Airlift was $ 5.18 million," he tweeted.


‘Kapoor & Sons’ is now inching towards Rs 100 crore mark at the domestic box office and considering its performance, it should achieve the figure by its third weekend.
